New DOSA compliant DC/DC Converters Deliver Higher Power and Density

Lineage Power has launched a pair of Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) compliant 20A open-frame non-isolated DC/DC converter modules.

The APTH020A0X3-SRZ and APTS020A0X3-SRZ DC/DC TLynx™ converter modules offer a wide input voltage range of 2.4V to 5.5V with efficiencies of between 90 to 93%. They deliver up to 20A of output current at a precisely regulated output voltage of 0.6Vdc to 5.5Vdc, programmable via an external resistor. Other features include: programmable output voltage, remote on/off, remote sense, monotonic start up and shutdown, and over current and over temperature protection.

The new modules also feature Lineage Power’s patented Tunable LoopTM technology, recently licensed to Murata Power Solutions and Bel Fuse Inc. The Tunable Loop™ feature allows engineers to optimize the control loop to match the load requirement to the application, reducing the amount of external filtering necessary and slashing the quantity, type, and size of capacitors required. The resulting higher level of product consolidation provides significant cost and performance advantages.

The APTH020A0X3-SRZ and APTS020A0X3-SRZ DC/DC TLynx™ converters offer a higher density and more cost effective power solution for many applications, most notably: distributed power architectures, intermediate bus voltage applications, telecommunications equipment, servers and storage applications, and networking and industrial equipment.

According to Karim Wassef, POL Product Line Manager at Lineage Power, the new modules are backward compatible with the company’s earlier Lynx IITM and SuperLynx IITM modules: “The new TLynx converters are as efficient as our Lynx Series modules but thanks to innovations in design and packaging, offer significantly improved thermal performance,” Wassef said.

The TLynx converters are currently available in a small SMT package measuring only 1.3 in x 0.53 in x 0.33 in (33 mm x 13.5 mm x 8.5 mm) and feature the LGA (Land-Grid-Array) interconnect method. Supporting an industrial operation temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, the modules meet EU Directive 2002/95/EC RoHS initiatives as well as industry standard board cleaning processes.
